Principal's Message

The Payson Unified School District family of schools is committed to providing an academic learning environment which is supportive, positive, challenging, and rigorous for all students. Our goal is to have all students succeed in earning their high school diploma as well as creating post-secondary goals based on their personal attributes and potential. As a collective staff, we strive to provide learning activities which require high levels of critical thinking and reasoning, accompanied by the application of learning to real-world situations. Reading and writing skills are essential in all content areas for progress and success.

PCS Distance Learning services a diverse student population of K-12 students just as in any other school learning environment. Students choose to attend PCS Distance Learning for many reasons which may include but are not limited to the following; accelerated learning, credit deficiency, behavioral needs, emotional needs, social distancing needs, need for an alternative school day or setting, and/or students with dependents. All students who attend PCS Distance Learning create a unique education plan specific to their needs, goals, and aspirations.

In addition to creating a supportive and unique learning plan for students, PCS Distance Learning allows students to continue to participate in the broad spectrum of extracurricular activities and sports available for all PUSD students at their specific grade level. Students can continue to participate in clubs, Career and Technical Training courses, STEAM activities, Fine Arts courses and activities, AIA Sports as well as other activities open to PUSD families.

We look forward to another successful school year. We believe that communication is the best way to create strong relationships between student/staff/parent/guardian. Please, ask questions, share your thoughts, and provide feedback, This is the way to make the year the best that it can be for our family as a whole.

Sincerely,

Jeff Simon,
Principal
and
Renae Short,
Lead Teacher
